CTE Technical Assistance Center
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has awarded the contract for the New York State Career and Technical Education Technical Assistance Center (CTE TAC) to the Successful Practices Network, Inc. of Rexford, New York. The purpose of the CTE TAC is to assist NYSED in carrying out the mission of improving the quality, access, and delivery of CTE through research-based methods resulting in broader CTE opportunities for all students. The CTE TAC will support NYSED’s ongoing work in:
- contributing to the Regents’ goals for educational reform,
- achieving the goals defined in the CTE Future Directions Initiative,
- improving CTE data collection and reporting to capture the scope and impact of CTE offerings state-wide, and
- fulfilling the requirements of The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V).
CTE TAC will foster innovative thinking through strong research and technical support services provided to school districts and BOCES. Over 700 districts and 37 BOCES will be able to access new tools to further develop data-driven decision-making models needed to raise the quality and effectiveness of CTE, strengthen student achievement, and improve transitions to post-secondary education and careers. Improving student outcomes in low-performing schools will be an area of emphasis.
