Diversity and Access Overview

NYSED’s Office of Diversity and Access (ODA) seeks to maintain a work environment and culture which is diverse, inclusive, equitable, accessible, and in compliance with the law. By fostering a culture of diversity or a capacity to appreciate and value individual differences, SED will benefit from varied perspectives on how to confront business challenges and achieve success. ODA is responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Promoting practices for Equal Employment Opportunity

  • Providing educational opportunities for Diversity and Inclusion

  • Investigates Discrimination and Sexual Harassment complaints

  • Assisting the Agency with practices, policies, and career ladders to support the advancement of all employees, especially people of color, women, individuals with disabilities, and Veterans

  • Monitor the Agency’s Reasonable Accommodation Program
