Unit Plan Templates and Checklists
Unit Plan Templates
To assist educators in developing unit plans aligned to the NYS Learning Standards for World Languages, the Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages has developed a Unit Plan Template. This template provides teachers with a step-by-step approach to develop the unit plan context, the unit-level can-do statements and acceptable evidence, the summative performance tasks, the language toolbox (with key language functions, supporting language structures, and supporting vocabulary), and the resources and materials to be used during the unit.
Unit plan templates are available for category 1-2 languages, category 3-4 languages, and classical languages in each of two formats: Word document and Google doc format.
- Unit plan template - Category 1-2 languages (Word, Google doc)
- Unit plan template - Category 3-4 languages (Word, Google doc)
- Unit plan template - Classical languages (Word, Google doc)
These unit plan templates are also available in "annotated" form with key information provided in each section to guide educators in this process.
- Annotated unit plan template - Category 1-2 languages (Word, Google doc)
- Annotated unit plan template - Category 3-4 languages (Word, Google doc)
- Annotated unit plan template - Classical languages (Word, Google doc)
Unit Plan Self-Assessment Checklists
Our office has also developed a Unit Plan Self-Assessment Checklist for both Checkpoints A and B. Educators can use these checklists to assess and then revise their unit plans to ensure they are appropriately aligned to the NYS Learning Standards for World Languages.
