Library Services - Information Resource Center (IRC)
The goal of the library is to provide our students with satisfaction for their curiosity, and the skills necessary to use libraries and the Internet throughout their lives. We use the Information Fluency Continuum, which places a heavy emphasis on the inquiry process along with questioning skills. The AASL standards framework supports our goals and drives lessons.
Library classes use a Promethean interactive white board, a mounted projector, sound system, and computers. Technology also includes a low vision magnifier reader, copiers and printers. For Deaf and Hard of Hearing resources and ASL, the library collection includes audio visual and print ASL learning materials with professional teacher resources.
Beyond the library walls, the Information Resource Center [IRC] is a member of the Madison-Oneida Boces School Libraries System. Our collection is supported and shared throughout several Boces regions. We are able to provide a variety of databases and subscriptions, including e-books and learning materials through the generous lending library system and library catalog. The library webpage is updated often and has many resources for parents and students year-round.
Collaboration with classroom teachers, technology integration, and the summer enrichment program support the educational goals, promote literacy and allow for active learning and reinforcement with STEM projects, coding, digital citizenship, and more!
