World Languages

In-Person Events

For the last few summers, NYSED OBEWL has sponsoring two-day, in-person workshops in each of nine regions in New York State to support NYS world language educators in their transition to the NYS Learning Standards for World Languages.  These workshops are designed by Dr. Joanne O'Toole, Bill Heller, and Dr. Lori Langer de Ramirez.  All workshops run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a one-hour lunch on your own.  Eight (8) hours of CTLE or attendance credit are provided to those who meet the attendance requirements.

The summer 2025 workshops on Checkpoint B Proficiency Assessment Guidance and Item Writing were attended by hundreds of world language educators in the Capital, Hudson Valley, Long Island, Mid-State, Mid-West, New York City, Northern NY, Southern Tier, and Western NY regions.
