Bilingual Education Resources

Bilingual Education Toolkit

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is pleased to share our new Bilingual Education Toolkit.

This resource is created through a collaboration between the Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL) and the Bilingual Education Advisory Panel, which is comprised of Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (RBERN) personnel and key district leaders from the English Language Learner (ELL) Leadership Council. These experts have shared their vision and knowledge to support district leaders and teachers who are considering, starting, running, and/or maintaining quality Bilingual Education programs.

The first two topic briefs and toolkit glossary are provided below. Check back at this space again soon for new topic briefs covering The Seal of Biliteracy, Dual Language programs, Transitional Bilingual Education programs, Home Language Arts supports, Bilingual Special Education, and best practices.
