Public comment is encouraged. Meetings are open and accessible to the public. All meetings include an opportunity for public comment. Thirty minutes of the first day of the Panel session is devoted to public comment.

Comment should focus on special education policy issues and, if possible, include recommendations to address those issues. Information provided should be factual, objective and not include the names of any districts/agencies, district or agency personnel and/or children or families. Comment related to child or district specific issues and/or those related to complaints or impartial hearing will not be accepted.

Comment may be provided in person at the meeting or in writing to the Office of Special Education or to any member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Panel. We request that written comment be submitted two weeks prior to the meeting. It will be shared with members and read at the meeting.  Anonymous comment will not be accepted. Comment is limited to five minutes. Language must be respectful and appropriate. The chairperson reserves the right to terminate the speaker if these guidelines are violated.
