COVID-19

The Board of Regents and the New York State Education Department (NYSED) are providing important information to P-12 schools in response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The closing of schools in March 2020 has profoundly affected the lives of New Yorkers. This impact will continue through the 2020-21 school year and beyond.

Pre-K - 3rd Grade Learning at Home

The New York State Education Department and the Office of Early Learning have provided activities and resources for families and educators to use while children are at home during the the COVID-19 pandemic. Some activities are online computer resources, while others make use of non-technological resources. The Department has provided ways to use technology in continuity of learning plans and digital learning resources.

“The 2020-2021 school year brought many challenges for educators all over the world. Teachers were challenged to adjust to a new way of teaching that was once unimaginable, and keep students engaged in a way we never would have expected.”
Victoria Celenza, Prekindergarten Teacher, Catholic School Region of Rockland, Ulster, Sullivan and Orange Co.

The Department is grateful to the dedicated educators and school personnel who are working so diligently to ensure that students are safe and well. We encourage you to Submit Your Story detailing how you continue to stay connected with your students and families throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
