Chapter 76 of the Laws of 2015, “Enough is Enough” Interim Aggregate Data Report
January 1, 2018 – May 1, 2018
Chapter 76 of the Laws of 2015, Implementation by Colleges and Universities of Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence and Stalking Prevention and Response Policies and Procedures, known as the “Enough is Enough Act,” requires higher education institutions to annually submit aggregate data to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) concerning reports of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual assault. In July 2017, the New York State Board of Regents adopted regulations for reporting this information. NYSED developed the regulations in consultation with the higher education sectors and created an electronic reporting mechanism for annual data submissions. The Department is required to issue a data report to the Governor and State Legislature.
The reporting period for this interim data report encompasses January 1, 2018 – May 1, 2018 only. The adjudication process for some reported cases may not have been completed during this short interim reporting period. In addition, training sessions and other activities undertaken by institution in compliance with the requirements of Article 129B, but outside of the interim reporting period, will not be reflected in this interim report. Future reports will be based upon reporting periods encompassing entire calendar years: January 1 – December 31. Institutions must submit data for the full 2018 calendar year by October 1, 2019; after which, NYSED will compile and release the submitted data.
Higher education institutions self-reported the data contained in this data report. As such, the data has not been subjected to independent verification.
The Department aims to improve its data collection process by working with higher education institutions to address any questions and concerns that arose during the interim data collection cycle.
Please note, as required by statute, the incidents included in this data report include those reported to higher education institutions’ Title IX Coordinators.
