Fire Safety / Project Management Update

April 18, 2025
  • The Office of Facilities Planning (OFP) is excited to announce the upcoming merger of the Fire Safety Application within the NYSED Application Business Portal with our existing internal Project Management Information System (PMIS).
  • The integrated application will be renamed "Facilities Planning – Fire Safety / Project Management" and will continue to support Fire Safety functions while also introducing new capabilities, including:
    • Linking building information between the current Fire Safety system and PMIS;
    • Accepting Letter of Intent (LOI) requests and automatically assigning Building Project Numbers; and
    • Updating project status on the public-facing page in real time.
  • This merger is scheduled to take place between April 23 and May 7. During this period, the following services will be temporarily unavailable:
    • Change Order Approval Status;
    • Project Status;
    • Processing of LOIs and assignment of Building Project Numbers;
    • Issuance of building permits;
    • Updates to data in the current system; and
    • Processing of some data inquiries in PMIS.
  • To prepare for this change, districts should ensure that relevant staff have appropriate access to the existing Fire Safety system within the NYSED Application Business Portal Access.
  • This merger represents a key step in the modernization of OFP’s system. After the integration, OFP will provide guidance on how to submit LOI requests through the new system. Until then, emailed LOI requests will continue to be accepted.
