Thank you for your interest in AIMHighNY. Here you will find updates about the State Education Department’s review of the New York State Prekindergarten – Grade 12 Common Core Learning Standards for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.

The review began in the fall of 2015 with an online survey of the current standards. More than 10,500 people responded to the survey and provided over 750,000 pieces of feedback.

This spring, the next phase of review began with the formation of the ELA and Mathematics Standards Review Committees. The Committees are now reviewing each standard for every grade level for ELA and math and the feedback from the online survey. Once their review is complete, they will recommend possible revisions and additions to the standards.

More than 1,700 educators and 300-plus parents applied for Committee spots. A total of 138 parents and teachers were selected. There are 66 ELA Committee members and 72 Math Committee members.

You can find more information about the standards review, including an updated timeline and a map showing the geographical representation on the Standards Review Committees, here: AIMHighNY Standards Review Update: June 7, 2016.
