In this video, Tracey Edwards, the DEI Coordinator of Western Suffolk BOCES presents on activities being used to broaden the talent pipeline of racially and ethnically diverse educators. Teachers, and administrators are leading multiple opportunities to get students interested in and excited about the field of education at an early age and then sustain that interest and enthusiasm through collaboration with institutions of higher education and ongoing trainings in the community. Activities include clubs across secondary schools, elective courses that highlight human development and contemporary issues in education, and opportunities to earn college credit through partnerships with colleges and universities. They encourage others to build partnerships and to be innovative as they seek to increase educator diversity.
