Numeracy Briefs

The New York State Education Department (NYSED), in collaboration with BOCES, the Big 5 school districts, and the small city school districts, hosted a statewide numeracy conference on May 13, 2025. During the conference, NYSED released a series of eight numeracy briefs that highlight the evidence-based features and best practices of effective mathematics instruction.

These briefs were produced for NYSED by Dr. Deborah Loewenberg Ball, Professor of Education at the University of Michigan, and TeachingWorks, a project at the University of Michigan.
