Program Office/Description:

The Office of Indigenous Education allocates state funding and provides assistance to public school districts that educate Indigenous children residing on Tribal Nations throughout the state and administers the New York State Indian Aid program, which provides funding for students with Tribal Nation membership who are attending postsecondary schools. The office works with leaders and educators from Tribal Nations and districts across the state to support Indigenous education programs and ensure that all students aided by the office have access to educational and social-emotional programs to support college readiness.

The Assignment (Description of Job):

The intern would be assisting NYSED and the Cultural Education Center in completing the graphic design work for the Indigenous Education Briefs project. The student's knowledge of, and experience with, graphic design will be very helpful at this stage of the project.

Remote
Professional Development Plan :

The student will work with individuals from NYSED and/or the Cultural Education Center who will be directly assisting our office with the Indigenous Education Briefs project on the design end. The student will also have the opportunity to collaborate with educational leads, content experts, student fellows, and artists who will be contributing and creating content for the Briefs.

Desired Skills, Abilities, & Educational Background:

The ideal candidate will have experience with graphic design and will be enrolled in an art or graphic design program and their respective institution. Additionally, preferred candidates would have knowledge of Indigenous art and culture since the Briefs focus on Indigenous culture and history.
