Eastern Suffolk BOCES

In this video, representatives from Eastern Suffolk BOCES—Claudy Damus-Makelele, Associate Superintendent of Educational Services; April Francis-Taylor, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Ryan Ruf, Chief Operating Officer—share how they engaged in activities and planning to ensure that each department across the BOCES incorporates their organization's equity goals using the NYSED CR-S Framework. They highlight the involvement of multiple agencies, their DEI liaison program, student groups, and professional development. They close by encouraging others to include students, as well as all staff and administrators, in ongoing learning around diversity, equity, and inclusion and to develop and review their own strategic policy with an equity lens to increase the likelihood of impact and sustainability.
