In this video, Dr. Fatima Morrell, Chief of Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Initiatives for Buffalo Public Schools, shares information about the culturally responsive curriculum the district created and the ways in which they have developed and refined it to engage students through elevating their voices, cultures, and histories, while giving teachers tools to transform their teaching. Dr. Morrell highlights the importance of curriculum units, teacher professional development, building leaders, strategic planning, and courageous dialogue. Dr. Morrell encourages others to foster teacher and student agency and to create curriculum materials that celebrate and honor all students.
