This site is for the voluntary registration of nonpublic nursery schools and kindergartens, which must comply with Commissioner's Regulations, Part 125. Registered nursery schools provide programs for preschool children between the ages of three and five years. Registered kindergarten programs must adhere to the age eligibility requirements established by the public school district where the child resides. Registered schools receive a certificate that is valid for a five year period.

IMPORTANT REMINDER REGARDING THE 2019-2020 ANNUAL REPORT

Due: July 31, 2020

All Nursery Schools and Kindergartens registered with the State of New York are required to submit the Annual Report by July 31st each year to the NYSED Office of Early Learning.  Additionally, a copy of the Fire Safety Report that schools are required to submit annually by December 1st to the Office of Facilities Planning must accompany the Annual Report.

The Annual Report provides our office with an update on critical information for our database, reports to the Governor’s Office, to the Legislature, to the Board of Regents as well as significant changes in program implementation. 

You are required to submit this information to verify compliance with Part 125 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.  To review Part 125.10 (b) (1) please visit the nursery school regulations page.

Failure to provide this information may result in the registration being terminated by the State Education Department.  

The 2019-2020 Annual Report form can be downloaded from OEL's Nursery School Reports page.  Please note that this report form must be used.  Reports received on an outdated form will be returned to you.  The correct form must be submitted by the deadline.

The Nonpublic Fire Safety Report form and manual can be found on the Facilities Planning website.

For important information regarding the completion and submission of both the Annual Report and the Fire Safety Report, please refer to the Annual Report and Fire Safety Memo PDF icon (98 KB).  Your completed 2019-2020 Annual Report and a copy of the Nonpublic Fire Safety Report must be forwarded to our office either by way of e-mail: oel@nysed.gov, or mail to: NYS Office of Early Learning, 89 Washington Avenue – Room 319 EB, Albany, NY 12234, by July 31, 2020.
