New York State Summer School of the Arts Program Receives Award

The State Education Department congratulates the New York State Summer School of the Arts program, FOCUSED: Creative Youth in the Empire State, for receiving an award in the "Outstanding Locally Produced TV Program" category from the New York State Broadcasters Association.

FOCUSED: Creative Youth in the Empire State is a television program that follows students from audition through performance during their journey at New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA). Learn more about the program and watch a short video here.

The seven summer schools which make up NYSSSA enable New York State's most talented teens to focus on cultivating their art, working intensively with world renowned performing and visual artists. For 46 years, the State Education Department has provided support to make these remarkable experiences possible for students across the state, through needs-blind auditions and tuition assistance for students with economic needs.
