Student Data Privacy

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is a valuable commodity that is the key to an individual’s identity, both online and offline. This key could be used to unlock records that should be protected from unauthorized disclosure. At NYSED, we are committed to protecting and securing student PII from unauthorized disclosure. In doing so, we strive to strike a balance between securing student data, using technology to improve the student learning experience, and our legal obligations such as data reporting.

We created this page to make it easier for parents, educators, advocates and all stakeholders to quickly and easily get information about what we are doing as it relates to student privacy and hope you find it useful. Thank you.
