State Education Department Appoints Mary Fox-Alter as State Monitor for the East Ramapo Central School District

State Education Commissioner Betty A. Rosa appointed Mary Fox-Alter as State Monitor for the East Ramapo Central School District, the Department announced today. Ms. Fox-Alter will serve as the State’s Academic Monitor and will work with Bruce Singer, who has been the State’s Fiscal Monitor for the District since March 2020.

“Mary Fox-Alter will bring a depth of knowledge, skill, and understanding to the State Monitor position, which is thoughtfully designed to help all children in East Ramapo,” said Board of Regents Chancellor Lester W. Young, Jr. “Ms. Fox-Alter’s ability to forge meaningful, collaborative relationships with school board leadership while maintaining a productive relationship with the community will allow her to quickly become a valuable asset to the students and families of the East Ramapo community.”

“Ms. Fox-Alter is a proven and effective district leader with a unique ability to support students, teachers, families, and school board members alike,” said Commissioner Rosa. “Her blend of experience in public and private schools coupled with her strong commitment to student success and the community make her an exceptional choice for the East Ramapo Central School District.”

The State Monitors in East Ramapo oversee district finances and operations and help to ensure that students have equitable access to high-quality instruction, programs, and services. Ms. Fox-Alter most recently served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Pleasantville Union Free School District. Ms. Fox-Alter is expected to start in her new role on April 7. With more than 40 years of experience as an educator, Mary Fox-Alter joined the faculty of the Pleasantville Union Free School District in 1990 after working as a social studies and computer science teacher in Catholic schools for nine years. Ms. Fox-Alter holds a bachelor’s degree in History and Secondary Education from Mercy College, a master’s in Educational Technology from Iona College, and a Professional Diploma in Administration from the College of New Rochelle.

El Departamento de Educación Del Estado Nombra a Mary Fox-Alter Como Supervisora Estatal Del Distrito Escolar East Ramapo Central

La comisionada de educación del estado Betty A. Rosa nombró a Mary Fox-Alter como supervisora estatal del Distrito Escolar East Ramapo Central, según anunció hoy el Departamento. La Sra. Fox-Alter se desempeñará como supervisora académica del estado y trabajará con Bruce Singer, quien ha sido el supervisor fiscal del estado para el distrito desde marzo de 2020.

“Mary Fox-Alter aportará gran conocimiento, competencia y comprensión al cargo de supervisora estatal, que está cuidadosamente diseñado para ayudar a todos los niños de East Ramapo”, dijo el canciller de la Junta de Regentes Lester W.
