Public Health and Education Laws Require Schools to Follow State Requirements for Vaccinations

The New York State Education Department (SED) and the New York State Department of Health (DOH) are committed to ensuring that schools across New York State are adhering to state public health laws requiring vaccination of children prior to school admission. Given the recent media attention and the fact that DOH has confirmed three cases of measles in New York State, including New York City, recently issued a memo to schools in New York State as a reminder to continue to take all appropriate measures to protect New York’s students through ytheir responsibility to oversee children’s admissions to school.
