Subject:
Application for 2021-2022 Universal Prekindergarten Expansion Grant for New Full-Day Placements for Four-Year-Old Students
Date:
January 12, 2022
The application for the 2021-2022 Universal Prekindergarten Expansion Grant for New Full-Day Placements for Four-Year-Old Students is now available for school districts to complete through the NYSED’s Monitoring and Vendor Performance System (MVPS) via the Application Business Portal.

School districts should use the Grant Award Request and Collaboration Calculator in the application to determine the portion of the grant award the school district can apply for during the 2021-2022 program year to operate 90 – 180 instructional days. Grant awards can be used only for new full-day prekindergarten slots (minimum five instructional hours per day) for students who were four years of age by December 1, 2021. This grant award cannot be used to convert current half-day slots to full-day slots.

To avoid supplanting local, state, and/or federal funds, school districts are not able to use this grant award toward existing prekindergarten programming.

By January 31, 2022, through MVPS, school districts should submit the application, corresponding FS-10 Proposed Budget, and required M/WBE documentation for 2021-2022 program approval.

Questions pertaining to the application may be directed to the Office of Early Learning at OEL@nysed.gov.
