In this video, Dr. John Murphy, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction K–12, and Dr. Gayle Steele, Assistant to the Superintendent for Elementary Education, of South Huntington School District share initiatives related to increasing student access to rigorous coursework and embracing the principles of the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework.  Their programming focused on the use of data to inform decisions about student placement and encouraging parents, students, and faculty to prepare early for student success.  Dr. Murphy and Dr. Steele share information about programs being implemented to address disparities in higher level coursework and the successes of these programs in increasing student access.  They encourage others to create opportunities that facilitate student success in middle grades coursework, use data for identifying students, involve students in the process, and establish open communication.
