Educator Diversity Report
As part of the 2018-19 Enacted State Budget, amid growing recognition of the value of diversity in New York State’s educator workforce, the Department was charged with drafting an Educator Diversity Report that provides an overview of teacher diversity throughout the state. The report advances the issue by pulling together relevant data, analysis, and resources and identifying promising next steps toward a more diverse workforce and a more equitable education system.
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a law that outlines how states can use federal money to support public schools. In January 2018, the federal government approved New York State’s plan to spend the approximately $1.6 billion the state receives annually under ESSA.
