2022 MBK Symposium Video Recordings Available
NYSED hosted the 2022 New York State My Brother’s Keeper Symposium on April 28-29, 2022. Hundreds of students, parents, educational leaders, advocates, and experts from across the nation came together virtually for the fifth My Brother’s Keeper symposium. The event featured nationally renowned guest speakers and student and educator panels.

Video recordings from the Symposium, including the breakout sessions, are now available on the NYSMBK website.
Congratulations to the Winners of the 2022
Vice Chancellor Emerita Adelaide L. Sanford Scholarship
Sanford Scholarship winners Anderly Burgos Terrero of Yonkers City School District and Matthew Worrell of Newburgh City School District
The Board of Regents recognized two outstanding New York State students receiving Vice Chancellor Emerita Adelaide L. Sanford Scholarships at the Board’s May meeting. The scholarship is named for Dr. Adelaide L. Sanford, the first African American and the first woman to serve as Vice Chancellor of the Board of Regents. Through Dr. Sanford’s generosity, the scholarships are awarded annually to exceptional My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Fellows and graduating high school seniors from NYSED-recognized MBK communities. Congratulations to this year’s recipients, Anderly Burgos Terrero of Yonkers City School District and Matthew Worrell of Newburgh City School District.

Dr. Sanford is the former Vice Chancellor of the Board of Regents and served on the Board for more than 20 years. She is also Honorary Co-Chair of the Work Group to Improve Outcomes for Boys and Young Men of Color, in recognition of her unwavering leadership and ongoing meaningful contributions to this effort.
My Brother's Keeper Fellows Program
The purpose of the MBK Fellows Grant is to provide rising 12th grade high school students, with an emphasis on boys and young men of color, with opportunities to gain authentic leadership experience(s) and develop service projects beneficial to the schools they attend and the communities they live in.
