Draft 2024 New Charter School Request for Proposals (RFP) and Application Kit Posted for Public Comment
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) announces the release of the DRAFT 2024 New Charter School Request for Proposals (RFP) and Application Kit for applicant groups seeking to establish new charter schools authorized by the Board of Regents to open for instruction in 2025. The DRAFT 2024 RFP expresses the continued interest of the Board of Regents in replicating high quality school models and authorizing innovative new schools that implement priority school designs aligned with Regents strategic priorities, as described in the RFP posted on the NYSED Charter Schools webpage at New School Application Process | New York State Education Department (nysed.gov).
Public comment and questions regarding the DRAFT 2024 New Charter School RFP and Application Kit will be accepted through 3:00 PM on February 15, 2024. All written comments submitted to CharterSchools@nysed.gov will be reviewed and considered. The FINAL 2024 RFP and Application Kit will be posted on March 29, 2024. Interested applicants are encouraged to use the DRAFT 2024 RFP and Application Kit for guidance purposes in preparation for submitting a letter of intent by April 22, 2024.
Please note that NYSED will only consider applications if charters are available for issuance in the applicant group’s proposed district of location, in accordance with State Education Law, at the time the Full Application is due. NYSED anticipates that no charters will be available in New York City at the time the Full Application is due on July 5, 2024.
