NYSSB Student Voices Program 2022

OBEWL announces the NYSSB Student Voices Program 2022!  Since the first New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) was awarded in 2015, the number of participating schools grew to 324 in 2020-21 and will be close to 400 in this school year. At the present, more than 17,600 students have earn the NYSSB, demonstrating the importance of being multilingual and multiliterate in today’s global society. The Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages is soliciting short video clips of 2021-22 NYSSB candidates speaking about why they chose to pursue the NYSSB in order to create both statewide and regional videos to program the NYSSB project. Using a smart phone or other device, students may record a short video clip of no more than 60 seconds in English and/or a world language expressing their motivation for participating in this program.  Participation is completely voluntary.

Technique:
1. Length of video clip: approximately 60 seconds
2. Recording methods: a smartphone (vertical orientation) or video camera
3. File formats: MP4, MOV, M4V, MPEG4, MPG, AVI or WMV

All student videos should be sent to NYSSB@nysed.gov.  Following the submission of the student video clip via email, NYSSB Coordinators should complete a brief online information form on the student.  For more information, please download the NYSSB Student Voices Flyer here.  NYSSB Coordinators are encouraged to reach out to NYSSB@nysed.gov with any questions.
