Seeking Applications - State Approved 853 School-Age Provider Program Expansion Opportunity in NYC

The United Cerebral Palsy of Queens, Inc. [d.b.a. Queens Centers for Progress (Q.C.P)] school-age chapter 853 special education program has notified the New York State Education Department (NYSED) that it will cease operation effective January 26, 2018.  As a result, private schools currently approved by the New York State Education Department to serve School-Age Students with Disabilities within New York City are invited to submit applications to serve the following:

Student Population Profile

  • Ages 15-21 classified as having Multiple Disabilities (MD):
    Profile of current students:
  • Other Health Impairment with Intellectual Disability,
  • Orthopedic Impairment with Intellectual Disability,
  • Orthopedic Impairment with Other Health Impairment,
  • Visual Impairment with Hearing Impairment,
  • Intellectual Disability with Visual Impairment,
  • Intellectual Disability with Hearing Impairment or Deafness,
  • Intellectual Disability with Hearing Impairment or Deafness and Visual Impairment.

Special Classes Needed

  • One full-day Special Class, Ages 5-14 (Grades K-6), with a 12:1+4 ratio serving students with Multiple Disabilities
  • One full-day Special Class, Ages 15-21 (Grades 7-12), with a 12:1+4 ratio serving students with Multiple Disabilities

Applications will be considered as they are received and determined to be complete.  All programs requesting consideration must be able to provide all services indicated on the students’ Individualized Education Program.  This posting will be updated as classes are awarded to qualified applicants.
