December 1, 2021
Dear Parents and Families,
Commissioner Rosa
I hope you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving by spending quality time with those closest to you. The holiday season is a perfect time to reflect on the importance of family. Thank you for your dedication in supporting your children's learning. Your interest helps them thrive in these challenging times and always.

This winter, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) will resume holding the Graduation Measures regional information meetings that were paused in March 2020. During these additional eight meetings, participants will provide feedback on the knowledge and skills all students should have by the end of school and how students should show they have the knowledge and skills necessary for graduation. Our ultimate goal is to ensure educational excellence and equity for every student in New York.

I look forward to resuming our meetings this month and re-engaging with New Yorkers about what a diploma in our state should signify. In addition to holding the virtual meetings, we are also inviting public comments via ThoughtExchange. I hope you will consider participating in this important discussion.

For a full list of upcoming meetings, registration details, and additional information on the Graduation Measures Review initiative, please visit our Graduation Measures website.

Sincerely,

Betty A. Rosa
Commissioner
