Office/Bureau Description: 

The Office of State Assessment coordinates, develops, and implements many examinations which include Grade 3-8 standardized tests, Regents Examinations, Regents Competency Tests, Second Language Proficiency Examinations, Alternate Assessments and English Language Proficiency assessments that comprise the New York State Testing Program (NYSTP). These examinations are administered to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 enrolled in public, nonpublic, and charter schools throughout New York.

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

Interns within the Office of Assessment, Standards and Curriculum will be engaged in both the day-to-day operations of test development and administration, as well as the research agenda necessary to promote quality in testing programs. This will include both qualitative and quantitative research and presenting the findings to the supervisor.

Intern Development Plan : 

The intern will have the opportunity to work directly with Department psychometricians and educational research staff as well as receive feedback on projects that have been assigned to them independently. The intern will also be able to attend meetings with Department contractors thus increasing their professional network and learning about additional career opportunities.
