This Office administers approximately $110 million dollars in grants, contracts and scholarships to colleges and universities, schools, school districts and BOCES, community based and non-profit organizations, and students. These programs seek to assist students in the preparation for, access to, support during, and the successful completion of a postsecondary program, certificate or degree.
The intern will assist with the conduction research as it relates to policies and procedures that govern NYS-Opportunity Programs. The first project will involve to continue researching financial aid process, tuition and award packaging at private and public schools, retention and graduation rates, and researching best practices on supporting disadvantaged student group as well as assist with logistics with our new HEOP RFP. The second project will involve the intern to continue work with the Higher Education Opportunity Program unit to organize and digitally archive historical program documents related to the Higher Education Opportunity Program. The third project will be organizing our impending training conferences for HEOP for this Fall. The intern will utilize organization skills, multi-tasking abilities, and computer skills. Strong computer skills are required including experience with Microsoft Office. The ability to work in a team environment is essential as the intern will work with various staff within the Office of Postsecondary Access, Support and Success to review, revise and update policies.
The intern will develop and improve skills in policy research, office based computer skills, project management, and collaboration. Intern will interact with multiple layers of Department leadership and develop skills in working with a diverse population.
