Program Office/Description: 

Office of NYS History within the New York State Museum: Intern will help with the editing responsibilities of the New York History journal, research for This Day in NYS History, and other history related projects.

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

Reading, editing, and organization of historical manuscripts, research into the historical record to identify and confirm dates of events, general history research.

Intern will learn how an academic journal is administered and learn skills associated with editing an academic journal.  Intern will also learn skills related to research for public history projects. 

Desired Skills, Abilities, & Educational Background: 

Minimum BA in History or related field, must be enrolled in MA or PhD in History or related field (Museum Studies, Africana Studies, American Studies, or Women’s Studies, etc.) Candidate should have good research and writing skills and be organized. 

Schedule/Hours: 

Work hours can be flexible M-F, 9AM – 4PM. Minimum of 10 hours per week, with possibility of additional hours.
