Office/Bureau Description: 

The New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA) administers seven, four-week, residential arts programs for NY high school students (Ballet, Dance, Media Arts, Choral Studies, Theatre, Orchestral Studies, and Visual Arts). The office is responsible for all aspects of the planning and oversight of these programs which range including general office tasks, marketing and outreach, processing auditions and applications, and opening/closing programs.

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

The intern will be responsible for general office support and will be directly involved in all areas of administration for the New York State Summer School of the Arts. The intern will be primarily involved in data processing (including entry and analysis) and outreach activities.

Intern Development Plan : 

The intern will receive valuable experience in administration of a highly regarded summer arts program. Working with the office during the planning and pre-season stage, allows the intern to get an in-depth experience into the full year-round activities of a summer program. They will work with computer software including Access and Excel. There will be networking opportunities within NYSED/OCE and among NYSSSA faculty and staff.
