Established in 1818, the New York State Library is one of the oldest and the largest state libraries in the nation. NYSL is the only state library to qualify for membership in the Association of Research Libraries.  The State Library is a modern public research facility for the government, people and libraries of the State.

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

The student intern works directly with TBBL circulation staff in the daily processing of the large digital audio book and braille collections in our circulation area, over 7,000 books per week. The intern uses the library database software to add new book inventory to the collection. The intern also works with the daily pulling of books from the shelves for checkout and the checking in of returning books. The intern also works with the TBBL reference librarians in writing documentation of internal procedures and in writing posts for the library Facebook page.

Intern Development Plan : 

Students may be invited to participate in project development and professional meetings based on their initiative and leadership skills.
