Established in 1818, the New York State Library is one of the oldest and the largest state libraries in the nation. The student in the Cataloging Unit of the New York State Library will assist cataloging staff in their ongoing maintenance of the library’s online catalog. Students will have an opportunity to learn many aspects of contemporary cataloging work, including MARC and RDA. Current projects include searching the online catalog and OCLC for Special Collections newspapers, adding holdings to existing records and copy cataloging OCLC records.
Students may be invited to participate in project development and professional meetings based on their initiative and leadership skills.
