The Office of Management Services (OMS) includes the offices of the Board of Regents, Commissioner, Executive Deputy, Chief Financial Officer, Human Resources, Communications, Facilities, Audit and Information Technology. The Director of Operations assists in the overall operations of all these offices and also functions as the business manager for the University of the State of New York – Regents Research Fund (RRF), a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation focused on educational, cultural and historical research and other related scholarships and projects.
The intern will assist with tracking expenditures for OMS offices, monitoring the status of the OMS base budget and preparing budget reports for senior management. The intern will also assist in the day-to-day operations of RRF. This will include tasks such as processing employee payroll and benefits, handling accounts payable, reconciling bank accounts, monitoring grant budgets and preparing monthly financial reports.
The intern will be under the direction of the Director of Operations and their staff and will be trained and guided through the day-to-day operations of NYSED and RRF. The intern will gain experience in state government, educational policy, not-for-profit accounting, budgeting, cost control measures, grant management and small business management.
Experience in Accounting or Business Administration
Maximum of 25 hours per week; will work within intern’s availability
