The Office of Communications is responsible for the preparation and/or distribution of materials regarding the programs, policies, and activities of the State Education Department to the general public, media, and other relevant audiences. Distribution methods and platforms generally include press releases, website, social media, direct email, and newsletters.
Office of Communications Fall 2021 Internship
-Developing and implementing social media campaigns on various social media channels
-Drafting news releases, newsletters, and other NYSED communications
-Managing website content
-Assisting communications staff with other duties as assigned
Pay Rate Dependent on Candidate: Undergraduate Intern $12.50, Graduate Intern $15
The intern will gain experience in a fast-paced government communications office and develop writing, social media, web, and other skills. The intern will also have the opportunity to work with internal and external stakeholders to develop interpersonal communication skills.
Most importantly, candidates for this internship should have excellent writing skills. Knowledge of social media platforms is preferred. Graphic design and/or web posting experience are a bonus but not required. Intern candidates enrolled in communications, government, or related programs will gain valuable experience in this internship.
Interns may work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the semester. The schedule of work days/hours is flexible and can be arranged with the supervisor.
