Associate in Continuing Education, Grade 26 (PEF)
The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services (ACCES) is seeking candidates for two Associate in Continuing Education positions.
- The first position will be filled in the Adult Education Programs and Policy Unit. This Unit promotes, develops, and supports adult education programs with the goal of providing adult students with successful pathways and transitions to post-secondary education, apprenticeship training, and the workforce. The incumbent of this position will be part of an upstate team of regional associates and serve as the accountability lead for the team.
- The second position will be filled in the High School Equivalency (HSE) Office. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for the overall implementation of the New York State High School Equivalency test program, which oversees the administration of the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC™) exam as the primary pathway to a New York State High School Equivalency Diploma.
Non-competitive Promotion: If there are three or fewer qualified candidates, a permanent appointment may be made as a non-competitive promotion pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. To qualify, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service as an Assistant in Continuing Education.
In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the New York State Education Department of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotional examination for two Associate in Continuing Education positions in Albany, NY. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications, if a non-competitive examination is approved by the Department of Civil Service.
These will be permanent appointments.
