The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is developing a Parent Dashboard to increase transparency and make information about school performance and other school-level data easier for parents and the public to access. 

Parents, please complete this five-minute survey and tell us how we can make the Parent Dashboard as useful as possible. The survey is available in multiple languages below.

Note: Question 5 on the survey asks you to rank the usefulness of various types of data. Please see below for descriptions of each data type:

Chronic Absenteeism
Percentage of students absent at least 10% of the days they were enrolled in a school

Class Size
Average number of students in each class

College, Career, and Civic Readiness
Indication of how well a school prepares its students to be successful in college, careers, and participation in civic life

English Language Proficiency
Indication of how well a school assists students whose first language is not English to learn how to speak, read, write, and understand spoken English

ESSA Accountability Designations
Indication of a school’s or district’s success in educating, graduating, and preparing its students to be successful after they leave school

Free and Reduced-Price Lunch
Percentage of students eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunch due to economic need

Graduation Rates
Percentage of students who earned a local or Regents diploma 4, 5, or 6 years after entering grade 9

School Safety
Indication of the level of safety provided by a school based on incidents of unsafe behavior or ways in which the school prevents these behaviors

Test Scores
Percentage of students passing State-developed tests
