An Assessment Think Document for the Arts

As the Learning Standards for the Arts move into full implementation, administrators and teachers will continue to develop assessments aligned with state standards and local goals to measure student learning. To assist, the Department, in collaboration with the Arts Content Advisory Panel (CAP), has developed an Assessment Think document. This forthcoming resource is organized around a series of guiding questions and includes resources to assist as teachers as they develop assessments and update curricula to the 2017 Learning Standards for the Arts.

Science Learning Standards Resources

The Office of Standards and Instruction has released three new resources on their NYSED Science page to help assist the field with the implementation of the New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards. These three resources are:

  • “An Introduction to the New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards” Turnkey Guidance with optional Power Point
  • “An Introduction to the NYSED Science Page and Resources” Turnkey Guidance with optional Power Point
  • “An Introduction to the Integrating Science and Language for All Students with a Focus on English Language Learners series” Turnkey Guidance

The goal of these documents is to provide educators, administrators, and science stakeholder groups with guidance and resources that will direct the work for the implementation the New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards (NYSP12SLS) in New York State classrooms.

The New York State Education Department’s Office of Standards and Instruction developed an email notification service to directly provide educators important information relevant to their area of certification and assignment.
