			    and Administrators Listing

		The Administrators Listing in now available for downloading
	from this site via a self extracting zip file.  If you have an IBM 
	compatible PC, then you should choose the SEDDIR.EXE file, which is
	a compressed version of the data.  Your browser should prompt you 
	for your preference on how to treat this file. When it does, then
	specify, 'Save to Disk'. Once you have the file on your hard drive
	and in your working directory, type SEDDIR.EXE, and the	file will 
	unzip.  Once this occurs, you should have SEDDIR.TXT, and you may 
	remove SEDDIR.EXE.    


		SEDDIR.TXT contains comma delimited data which can be
	used to create mailing labels.  Aside from addresses and phone
	numbers, there are also certain codes which facilitate the use 
	of programmatic logic to select or omit records or classes of 
	records, as desired (see LAYOUT.TXT).  For example, the BEDS 
	Code is a 12 digit code which uniquely identifies a building or 
	adminstrative entity. It is built up from constituent codes which
	themselves function to indicate a geographical area or institutional
	class. See the .TXT files COUNTY.TXT, DISTRICT.TXT and INSTCODE.TXT
	for a complete breakdown.  

		Other fields aid in the selection of institutions to
	satify query conditions. RECORD TYPE indicates whether a record
	is for a public, non-public or district (i.e.,	a purely 
	administrative) entity.  The GRADE ORGANIZATION CODE indicates 
	which grade levels a school contains.  Thus, should you wish to 
	locate the names of all chief school officers who are associated 
	with non-public elementary schools in the county of Otsego, you 
	would search for all records with a record type	of 2 in county 47
	which have a grade organization code of 1.
